CAST Pre-Service Teacher Award

CONGRATULATIONS to Sierra Rickford - awarded the 2019 CAST Pre-Service Teacher Award!

Sierra Rickford completed her student teaching during the fall of 2018 at Windsor High School under the mentorship of Tamara Pennington (and Jennifer Marlow), working through the University of Northern Colorado.  Sierra taught Biology and Earth and Space Science.

Tamara says of Sierra...

"Sierra has a natural gift for working with high school students.  She relates well to them and invests time in creating entertaining yet educational biology activities.  The students enjoyed their time with Sierra and had nothing but positive memories of their time together."

It is exciting to be able to celebrate new science teachers like Sierra.  She received a monetary award from CAST in recognition of her achievements.  Sierra will be recognized at the Colorado Science Conference on November 8, 2019 and will be reimbursed for registration costs to the CSC.

CAST is always looking for outstanding science student teachers.

We are currently seeking nominations for our 2019 Pre-Service Awards. If you sponsor(ed) a student teacher any time during the 2018-2019 school year, and feel they do(did) an outstanding job, please consider nominating them for the CAST Pre-Service Award.
