Community Guidelines, Privacy & Consent

At the Colorado Association of Science Teachers (CAST) and the Colorado Science Conference (CSC), we value your trust. Whether you're joining CAST, registering for the conference, submitting a proposal, volunteering, sponsoring, or simply signing up to receive updates, we're committed to protecting your information and creating a welcoming, professional community for science educators across Colorado.

Our Community

CAST and CSC are committed to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone.

We celebrate the diversity of Colorado's science education community and are dedicated to maintaining an environment free from discrimination, harassment, or bias based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, or any other protected characteristic.

All participants—including members, attendees, presenters, exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff—are expected to contribute to this positive environment through their words and actions. We ask everyone to engage with professionalism, kindness, curiosity, and respect.

We also ask participants to help care for our meeting spaces by using facilities responsibly and treating venues, venue staff, and fellow participants with courtesy and respect.

Accessibility

CAST and CSC strive to make our programs and events welcoming and accessible for everyone.

If you require accommodations to fully participate, we encourage you to submit your request as early as possible so we have adequate time to coordinate with our venues and partners.

Your Information

CAST and CSC use secure membership, event management, registration, communication, and payment platforms to manage memberships, conference registrations, events, volunteer opportunities, and organizational communications.

The information you provide is used only to support CAST and CSC programs, services, and communications.

We do not sell your personal information or share it with outside organizations for marketing purposes. Your information will only be shared when necessary to provide a service you've requested or when specifically disclosed in advance (for example, an optional attendee directory or sponsor benefit). Whenever possible, you'll be informed and given a choice.

Our Communications

When you provide your contact information, you are giving CAST and the CSC permission to communicate with you regarding membership, conferences, professional learning, grants, scholarships, awards, advocacy, volunteer opportunities, and other science education news related to CAST and CSC.

We promise to respect your inbox. Our goal is to send communications that are timely, relevant, and valuable—we're educators too, and we have no interest in spamming you or using your information for anything unrelated to CAST or CSC.

Because automated emails sometimes get filtered, we recommend checking your spam or junk folder if you're expecting a message from us. Adding our email addresses to your contacts or safe sender list can help ensure you receive important updates.

Photos, Video & Media

CAST and CSC events may be photographed, recorded, or live streamed. By participating in our events, you acknowledge that photographs, video, or audio recordings may be used by CAST for educational, promotional, historical, or marketing purposes, including our website, social media, publications, presentations, and future event promotions.

If you have concerns about appearing in photos or recordings, please let us know. We'll do our best to accommodate your request whenever reasonably possible.

Content & Submissions

By submitting presentations, articles, resources, photographs, or other materials to CAST or CSC, you affirm that you have the right to share those materials. Unless otherwise agreed upon, you grant CAST permission to use submitted content to support, promote, and celebrate science education while providing appropriate credit whenever practical.

Our Commitment

CAST is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization built on relationships, collaboration, and trust. We are committed to using your information responsibly, respecting your privacy, and creating meaningful opportunities for science educators to connect, support one another, and grow professionally.

Thank you for helping us build a welcoming community that celebrates and advances science education throughout Colorado.

If you have questions about these guidelines or how your information is used, please contact CAST at ColoradoCAST1@gmail.com and the CSC at ColoSciConf@gmail.com.
