CAST Grants and Awards

Each year, CAST offers a variety of awards which recognize excellence in science education in the State of Colorado.  Descriptions, requirements and deadlines for each of the different awards may be found at the links listed below.

Please consider nominating an outstanding science educator or feel free to nominate yourself!

The CAST Classroom Mini Grant provides the recipient with $200 for classroom materials.  This award is available to anyone who has been a CAST member for more than 1 year.

The Excellence in Teaching Award (CAST, AVS and Rising Star) provides the recipient with $500.  The CAST award honors an elementary, middle school, high school and college/informal educator.  The AVS and Rising Star Awards each honor 1 recipient.

The CAST Rising Star Award recognizes a teacher with one to three years of experience who has demonstrated a passion and aptitude for teaching science.  The same criteria for Excellence in Science Teaching will be used for evaluation, but consideration will be given to the formative state of the nominee.

The CAST Pre-service Teacher Award provides the recipient with $500 and an award certificate.  This award honors an outstanding science student teacher.

The Rural Scholarship to attend Colorado Science Conference provides $100 to 3 rural CAST members.  These scholarships are intended to help defray the cost of attending the Colorado Science Conference each November.
